Alison Limerick – Celebrating 35 Years of Where Love Lives
Alison Limerick – Celebrating 35 Years of Where Love Lives

Singer-songwriter Alison Limerick has announced a London headline show for 2026, taking place at Islington Assembly Hall on Friday 8 May.

The announcement follows on from the recent resurgence of her legendary house/dance music hit ‘Where Love Lives’ (the classic Frankie Knuckles & David Morales mix), which features prominently in this year’s nostalgic John Lewis Christmas advert, alongside a re-imagined version by globally acclaimed artist and producer Labrinth.

The campaign taps into the warmth and sentimentality of the season while spotlighting one of dance music’s most enduring vocal anthems - a track that became a defining moment of UK club and rave culture in the early ’90s.

The beloved 1998 version of ‘Where Love Lives’ appears on the new re-release of Limerick’s fourth studio album, Spirit Rising, which is out today on vinyl and CD. This later version of the track is an acid-jazz inspired rendition with a soulful vocal.

Originally released in 1998, Spirit Rising also features ‘Put Your Faith In Me’, the first single lifted from the album which became a Top 5 Dance smash.

Alison Limerick’s singing career began in pubs and bars on the London live music scene. Her debut album ‘And Still I Rise’ was released in March 1992 and included both ‘Where Love Lives’ and her top 20 hit ‘Make it On My Own’; that same year, she won the Best Female Artist Award at the DMC Awards.

Her second album ‘With A Twist’ featured collaborations with Frankie Knuckles, Tim Bran and David Morales, amongst others, and spawned two hit dance singles, ‘Time Of Our Lives’ and ‘Love Come Down’.

In 1996, Alison Limerick released ‘Club Classics’, a remix album. From this release ‘Where Love Lives’ again topped the dance charts with ‘’Make It On My Own’’ following. For the first time ‘Where Love Lives’ was released in America and reached number 4 in the Billboard Hot Dance 100 Chart. To top off the year she was nominated for a MOBO award.

Throughout her career there have been numerous writing/singing/recording collaborations, working with producers including Lati Kronlund, Arthur Baker, Joe T Vanelli and Lenny Fontana. She has sung with Tony Remy, George Michael, The James Taylor Quartet and Courtney Pine.

In 2016, Alison joined Brooklyn Funk Essentials for the first time, working alongside her ‘Where Love Lives’ writer/producer Lati Kronlund. Since then she has toured with the band across Europe, appearing on TV, in clubs and at numerous jazz or funk festivals, becoming an official member of the band in 2017. Alison features heavily on the last two Brooklyn Funk Essential albums, ‘Stay Good’ released in 2019 and ‘Intuition’ released 2023. The new Brooklyn Funk Essentials album is nearing its completion and is due for release in spring 2026 having already spawned two singles.

2026 will see Alison release a collection of her works, created over the past thirty years; an anthology that will demonstrate her varied and eclectic career.
