WITTY MUSICAL COMEDY FEATURES STANDARDS

OF THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

Babes in Arms, the classic Broadway musical comedy filled with a score of American standards by the team of Rodgers & Hart, will enthrall audiences at London’s Royal Festival Hall on March 2nd.

Presented by leading independent concert promoter Senbla (who also brought you musicals in concert such as ‘Peter Pan’, ‘Of Thee I Sing’ and ‘How To Succeed Without Even Trying’), Babes In Arms (1937) launched the iconic “Hey, kids, let’s put on a show!” genre that became a staple of Broadway and Hollywood for years. Composer Richard Rodgers (whose future would include the scores to The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! and The King and I) and lyricist Lorenz Hart created a sparkling collection of songs for Babes in Arms, including ‘My Funny Valentine’, ‘The Lady Is A Tramp’, ‘Where Or When’ and ‘I Wish I Were In Love Again’, that continue to be covered by contemporary artists to this day – a testament to the show’s enduring popularity.

Babes in Arms is presented through special arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe.
