Alison Balsom

As one of the most highly regarded trumpeters and innovative classical musicians of a generation, Balsom has spent the last decade performing in the world’s most prestigious venues

Alison recently presented the 2014 BBC Young Musician of the Year, the final for which was broadcast on BBC Four on Sunday May 18, and is a major advocate for music education and encouraging people of all ages to take up an instrument and to attend more concerts. As she recently said in an interview with the Radio Times, “music education is about so much more than turning out professional musicians”.

Gramophone Artist of the Year 2013, winner of the Nordoff Robbins PPL Classical Award 2013, three Classical BRITs including Female Artist of the Year in 2009 & 2011, Alison was also the first ever-classical female artist to headline Latitude Festival last summer.
